TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is permissible to apply for a COVID-19 extension while also having a 30-day extension, but be aware that the COVID extension will start from the date of application, which means you will lose any remaining days from the 30-day extension. It's generally recommended to complete the 30-day extension before applying for the COVID-19 extension.

You can apply for an extension about 45 days in advance. so if you already have the 30 days you can apply for the 60 days immediately afterwards

for number 6 does it have to be this form? or can any type of notification do?

this is the right document. This also applies to immigration. have it filled out by your hotel. I don't know whether another document is also valid.

Hello, first you have to extend 30 days .. (Patong Beach or Immigration Phuket town), after that you can apply for 60 days but only Immigration Phuket town
Ken ********

and try again i arrived on a 30 day exempt

@Ken *******
sounds like you got your initial 30 day extension. Most, but not all, immigration offices want you to use the 30day extension first before moving on to COVID extensions.

@Ken *******
if you go on the 24th maybe take sandwiches and a flask, probs going to be busy (unless they extend, which is possible but no way definite)

that's what I was thinking 20th is Thursday sounds lucky

@Nigel *********************
let's hope so I will be having another crack about 20-22 Jan before the cut off for the 60 days

@Ken *******
what would normally happen in that case is that your COVID extension will start on the day you apply for it (changing reasons) and not added to the end of your current extension. (Also 22nd is a Saturday. )
Michael ******
Sorry what is a covid extension? I thought we could only get a 30 days extension.

@Michael *****
its a 60 day extension many people here keep extending every 2 months with this visa

@Nirmal ******
Cool, that will give me some more time with my boy.

@Michael *****
is your boy

Thai and under 20?

@Stuart ********
Yes, he is. He’s only 5.
Stuart *********
@Michael *****
Then you also have the option to ask for a “visit Thai family” extension. However you can only get that one time per entry so use the covid extension while they’re still selling them and use that option as a last resort.

@Stuart ********
Thank you very much.

Very useful information.

@Nirmal ******
Do you know if it’s possible to get this extension on a visa exemption?
Benjamin ******
Yes, you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 if you have a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism.
Michael ******
@Benjamin *****
But aren’t most people able to travel now? Or is it an outdated rule that hasn’t been changed?
Benjamin ******
@Michael *****
To get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, you *MAY NEED* need one of the following proofs:

A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR;

A print out from your embassy website saying they don’t issue the letters, OR;

A print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

(Note the OR's)

For some immigration offices, you may need to show a ticket out of Thailand on request.

@Benjamin *****
Right, that’s not gonna happen 😂

I’m from Denmark, so unless they all of a sudden ban nationals from returning its not happening.

Thanks though.
Benjamin ******
@Michael *****
re-read my comment again. They accept a letter saying they don’t issue the letter.
Michael ******
@Benjamin *****
Right, sorry.

Thank you very much.

I had to prove my country was in lockdown to get the covid extension, I printed out a (English version) Dutch government webpage stating the Netherlands is in lockdown (nowhere did it say they closed the borders, I could go home if I wanted to), that was enough to get the extension (Phang Nga immigration)
Michael ******
@Sascha *********
That’s worth trying, thanks for the info.
Stuart *********
Almost certainly they’ll date the covid extension from the date you apply, meaning you’ll lose any remaining days of your current stamp.

So I've heard

@Michael *******
each office sets its own rules. If you got yours added then good on you. Many won’t.
Jared **********
@Stuart ********
how does that work if they give you a consideration? Would you be in worry of overstay?
Bernhard ****
@Jared *********
No, the extension. applies from the end of the previous extension, no days are lost
Stuart *********
@Jared *********
no the “under consideration” stamp is basically a “temporarily allowed to stay” stamp. You are allowed to stay until your return to immigration.

@Stuart ********
last year I got it without having to come back, but it’s good to know where I stand. Thanks
