TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry pertains to obtaining a 60-day COVID extension on a multi-entry tourist visa set to expire on February 28th. Responses from the community suggest that the extension typically starts from the date of application rather than the visa expiration date, with variations depending on the immigration office location. There's also mention of differing practices in Phuket, indicating that extensions might be added to existing visa durations. It's recommended to clarify with the local immigration office.
For Phuket I am told by many posters that it’s added on to the end of existing visa and not from date of approval. Anyone with a different recent experience?
This is different from immigration. some immigration first want you to extend 30 days, then you get the 60 days covid extension.. I would ask where you want to extend it, that's important.. I'm talking about Phuket here...You can apply for it four weeks in advance.👍
Getting a covid extension changes the reason for extension, so it runs from the date you apply for it. Have you considered getting a proper longer term visa to stay in Thailand, or are you happy with worrying month to month if the concession will be extended?
