Hi, I’m looking to apply for a DTV visa soft power from Belgium. My flight ticket is on 10 Feb. So I have 2 questions. If I apply from Belgium then in Thailand with tourist visa, it’s possible to activate my DTV by doing a border run? And second question. If someone close to me send the 500k bath to my bank account like today for example is it okay to apply or I need to have to money for 2-3 months already?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The application for a DTV visa from Belgium requires that you remain in Belgium until the visa is approved. It's possible to activate your DTV visa with a border run once already in Thailand on a tourist visa, but it carries risks as being in the application process while in Thailand can lead to application cancellation. Regarding the financial requirement, while there is typically no seasoning requirement for the 500,000 THB needed for the DTV, it's advisable to wait a couple of days after receiving the funds to avoid scrutiny over a same-day deposit.

Seems like a lot of gambles. It's possible everything goes fine, just depends on the officer in front of you, but better to have the money on your account for a while to avoid nasty questions, and better to apply some time in advance so you don't have to border run, as it's literally illegal to be in process of application while in thailand.

If you apply in Belgium you need to remain in Belgium until the process completes.

Your flight is 10 Feb, DO NOT APPLY.

Did you not read the webiste:

"Applicants are recommended to apply for the visa in advance, at least a minimum of 3 weeks and maximum 8 weeks before the expected date of your departure because the day of approval is the starting date of your visa validity."

I guess you did not read, but trust people on Facebook to sort it out for your.

Border Run: Yes, you can! If your DTV is approved while you're already in Thailand on a Tourist Visa, you’ll need to do a border run (exit and re-enter) to "swap" your entry stamp to the DTV. Make sure you have the DTV approval printed out when you re-enter via land or air. 🛂

The 500k THB: For the DTV, there is typically no "seasoning" requirement (unlike the retirement visa). As long as you can show a bank statement with the balance at the time of application, you should be fine. However, Brussels can be thorough, so wait a couple of days after the transfer so it's not a "same-day" deposit if you can. 💰

Hope that helps you get to Thailand by the 10th! If you want to take the stress out of tracking your 180-day stay once you arrive, we built a free tracking tool for DTV holders over at baojai.app. Safe travels! ✈️🇹🇭

If someone transfers and gives you a sponsor letter, it should be OK. You apply DTV online in your country, get the visa approval, enter Thailand with approved visa, at immigration they stamp your passport. We are visa agency and can help you if need.

As far as 500,000 THB is concerned. It's mentioned on the official website as 30 days.

You shouldn't enter Thailand while your DTV application is under process. That's as per rules. If breach is detected then your application stands a chance of being cancelled. Some people were lucky as this breach wasn't spotted and they got DTV. It's not recommended.
