May I ask a question regarding tourist visas. Friend coming from the Maldives, as I understand they get visa-exempt and can come for 15 days no visa required. However if they want to stay longer can they still apply for a single use tourist visa? Many thanks

Answer summary

A tourist from the Maldives can enter Thailand visa-exempt for 30 days. If they wish to stay longer, they can apply for a single entry tourist visa which grants an initial stay of 60 days, extendable for another 30 days. Alternatively, they may apply for a 30-day extension of the visa-exempt entry for 1,900 baht at the immigration office. It's important to note that there is no tourist visa application processed inside Thailand; they must visit the Thai embassy or consulate prior to entry.

I do not see a tourist visa available.

Very few visas appear for application.

James Miller. There is no Embassy in The Maldives. Residents must go through the Colombo Embassy in Sri Lanka for visas. There is only an Hon Consulate in Maldives. There was a post in another group relating to this.

People with a Maldive passport get also the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry which can be extended once with another 30 days.

But if he like to stay longer he can visit the Thai Embassy before he makes his way to Thailand and apply for the single Entry Tourist Visa which give him 60 days on entry and can be extended once with another 30 days.

No tourist visas issued in side of Thailand but they may be eligible for the normal one time 30 day extension or a covid unable to travel extension for 60 days
