Hello everyone, I'm going to get the 1 year non-o extension based on marriage. I already got the 3 months non-o. I successfully opened a bank account in Kasikorn now and i'm going to transfer 400k now to keep there for 2 months.

Can i use the same bank account to pay for stuff here as long as i always keep the balance above 400k?

Can i also just keep using the same 400k to extend the visa every year?

I asked in the bank if i could earn some interest on the 400k and she said i would make 0.3THB a year with the 400k 🤣. Is there a better alternative?

I'm gonna apply for the extension in Bangkok

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the requirements for maintaining a 400k THB balance in a bank account for their one-year non-O visa extension based on marriage in Thailand. They want to know if they can use the same account for transactions as long as the balance remains above 400k and whether they can utilize the same amount for future visa extensions. Responses confirm that as long as the balance is maintained for at least 2 months prior to the visa renewal, users can spend from the account. Alternatives for earning higher interest rates on deposits are also mentioned.

You can use any account where the money is instantly accessible, even if that means you incur a penalty such as loss of interest

I’ve seen someone mention SCB Easy gives 2.5%. It’s an online savings account from which you can instantly take out the money. Best ask your Immi Office whether they accept this.

yes of course. There are other amounts earning higher interest so why not ask them

You’ll get 0.3% and they will take off tax on the interest.

Yes you can just leave the 400k and you can also spend.

As long as it's 400k 2 months before renewal.

You can explore a fixed term deposit, just check with your local immigration to make sure they accept that for renewal.

Okay so i can still use the account in those 2 months as long as the account doesn't go below 400k right?

YES

2 months before and until you get your 1 year stamped in.

Safely for 3 months a year.

Don't cut it close.

I have personally dealt with somebody who went under the amount by 6 baht for one day and were denied.

This is not an anecdote but an actual fact I witnessed.
