I have a friend that successfully received their DTV visa and used their credit card statement address as proof of residency. Has anyone else tried this or is this up to interpretation? I've only ever heard of people using rental contracts or utility bills.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A credit card statement can be used as proof of residency for a DTV visa application, but it appears to be subject to interpretation by individual embassies. Some users reported that their credit card statements were accepted as proof in different countries, while others mentioned traditional documents like rental contracts or utility bills. Ultimately, the acceptance may vary depending on the specific embassy's requirements.
You simply need to provide proof of where you currently are, which should be somewhere in the country you are applying in. So in your home country it could be a driver's license or utility bill or something like that, if you're in a foreign country while you're applying then you would show your entry stamp or Visa or hotel booking
