My husband and I will be arriving in Bangkok for a week then we are travelling to Vietnam for a month. We will then fly into Phuket at the end of November until mid January. We will have 30days on arrival. Can we get a visa extension in Phuket to cover the days until we leave Thailand on the 16th January.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The couple, arriving in Thailand for a week before visiting Vietnam and then returning to Phuket, is seeking information about extending their stay in Thailand. It is confirmed that they can extend their visa for an additional 30 days at an immigration office in Phuket, especially since they will be stamped for 45 days upon initial entry. The extension process involves submitting specific documentation, including copies of their passport and entry stamp, alongside a filled TM7 form and a fee of 1,900 baht.

thank you for your help, all. We don’t have to post same information repeatedly. Kathryn, if you still have question regarding this topic, please contact one of the moderators to re-open this post.

Yes, you can. You should be stamped in for 45 days on your first arrival (as it is after October 1, the date the permission to stay changes from 30 to 45 days). You should be stamped in for 45 days on your second arrival. If necessary (I don't see the day you arrive in Thailand the second time, from Vietnam), you can obtain an additional 30-day extension of stay from immigration for 1,900 baht. Documentation needed is at:

And maybe a multi entry tourist visa in y'r own country is an option ? Then you not have to go to immigration for any extension. Just a thought.

, I agree with Tourist Visas for second entries, but Single Entry Tourist Visa seems to be enough. For me, I don't see the point of getting Multiple Entry Tourist Visas. What do I miss?

Isn't Visa Exempt 45 days now?

cool, I read 1 October, but since it was announced in August, I thought its a typo meaning 1 September

You’ll need a copy of your passport data page, a copy of your entry stamp, a photo and a filled out TM7 form (form for all extensions) and 1,900 baht.

Quickest in turn around times would probably be the office at the Blue Tree Water Park (maybe 10 minutes) next the office on the Patong Beach Road (maybe 15 minutes), then the main Phuket Town office (maybe around 20 minutes). Times subject to how many people are in the queue before you.

My friend had to show TM30 as well.

Forms available at the office. Copies or photos either available on site or very nearby.

You should have no problem with applying for tourism extensions for 30 days at one of the immigration offices in Phuket.
