TLDR : Answer Summary
A retiree in Thailand on a Non-O visa is inquiring about the possibility of switching to a business visa and obtaining a work permit while remaining in the country, especially due to safety concerns regarding international travel during the pandemic. The response indicates that typically, there is no straightforward means to convert a Non-O visa to a business-related visa that allows for work, but suggests contacting the Australian Chamber of Commerce or New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Thailand for potential assistance or exceptions.

Assuming you entered Thailand on a Non-O visa based on retirement, there is no way to my knowledge on how to convert this to a visa or extension of stay that allows a work permit.

IF I remember correctly, kiwis are slang for people from Australia. You can contact the Australia Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, and ask them if there are any special exceptions or treaties for people of your nationality. I'm sure someone would know:

; Kiwis are people from New Zealand. They also have a chamber of commerce as well;
