In country Non imm B (teaching) - initial 3 month stamp:

Can I move to a Covid extension when my initial in country Non imm B finishes? I have previously read that if it was issued outside Thailand then it cannot be converted into a Covid extension, but I haven’t seen anything on in country issued. Also, is it my responsibility to close out my work permit on the day I leave (still inside the initial 3 month stamp)

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can convert your in-country Non-Immigrant B (Non-B) visa to a COVID extension once the initial 90-day stamp expires. There is no distinction between visas issued inside or outside of Thailand regarding the conversion; both can be transitioned into a COVID extension. However, ensure you obtain the necessary termination documentation from your employer as you will be required to cancel your work permit on your departure date.

WOW... You go to all the trouble of getting a non b visa for teaching and within three months of arrival you quit your job.

Follow Tod's advice above....we wish you well.

Getting a new non b for teaching inside Thailand is not easy to do.

There's no difference in the ability for someone to go from a 90 day Non-B visa (issued inside or outside) stamp to a covid extension.

The office you deal will will most likely want termination documentation, etc, so stop in there and ask them what is required for you to go to a 60 day covid extension when this 90 day Non-B stamp runs down.

AND

You're correct, the work permit is your responsibility to cancel with documentation from your employer at the Ministry of Labour.
