A couple of questions about doing an in‑country conversion to a Non‑O retirement visa.
I’ll be entering Thailand on a tourist visa and hope to convert it to a 90‑day Non‑O based on retirement. I already have an active Thai bank account.
I understand that getting the Non‑O from my home country is preferred, but my challenge is that my retirement funds won’t be liquid until January 2027 and then the money would need to season for three months in my US account before I can apply. I’m hoping to arrive sometime in late 2026 and then convert to the Non‑O early 2027 once the funds are available.
My understanding is that for the initial Non‑O in country, the international transfer does not need to season in the account — is that still correct?
Also, has anyone recently done this conversion at Pathum Thani immigration?
Appreciate any recent experiences or advice.
