I successfully received my (first) non-O extension based on retirement from The Mae Sai immigration office. I had one before, but lost it due to being away for 20 months due to Covid, so I began from a tourist visa. This time, the very kind IO asked me to fill-in the names of my mother and father on a paper written completely in Thai that she was filling out. A couple minutes later, she asked how many siblings I had, then confirmed there was a total of three offspring in the family. She also asked what I did before retiring and how many years I had worked. Not a big deal, but is this form and associated questions a regular part of the process now? Just curious of other folks’ experiences.

It’s common for government officials to ask that in other places as well maybe she just follow Thai government procedures. I can not remember I wanted something done and they asked me for the whole family tree.

Ubon Ratchathani also asked the same questions the first extension I did on my Non O-A

nope, never ever heard of that form before.

So you came in on a tourist visa, then got a 90 day Non-O visa and then got the year extension? Did you do the whole process up there in Mae Sai?

correct. It’s been over three years since the last time I did this, and I am getting older, but I don’t recall those questions.
