Am I eligible to apply for a tourist visa in Thailand after having two visas on arrival?

In 2019 I have got 2 visa on arrival. One when I first arrived from Canada and one from a visa run I have done in Cambodia at Tray province.

In 2019 I never applied for tourist visa yet and I am planning to do it since my second Visa on arrival will end soon. This is a total of 4 months. Because I have extended both of my visa on arrival.

Am I OK to apply for tourist visa? All my TV are from 2017 and 2018. I don't have any in 2019 but since I already got 2 visa on arrival, I am not sure if I am eligible. I plan to apply at Savanaket with all the requirements.

Sorry my English! And thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about their eligibility to apply for a tourist visa in Thailand after having used two visas on arrival in 2019, questioning if their previous visa history affects their application. Comments offer mixed opinions, with some confirming eligibility for Canadians to apply while cautioning about potential denials due to the length of current stays. They are advised to prepare necessary documentation and consider alternatives in case of rejection.

you stayed over 90 days in the past 6 month, so Savannakhet will, most likely refuse a new Tourist Visa. Vientiane should be OK, but need a queue number. Avoid Phnom Penh. HCMC would be OK.
James ********
Just avoid Cambodia as you will potentially be denied due to exemptions.

savannakhet requires proof of funds (20K baht or the equivalent in a bank account) proof of onward travel (within 60 to 90 days) but at this time they are not asking for proof of lodging

Okay, IF you were denied a tourist visa in Savannakhet it looks like you can get ONE more 30 day visa exempt entry by land.

Whether you will be denied is nothing anyone here can tell you.

Good Luck, meet the requirements, apply and find out.

I saw a guy in a similar position get refused at Savannakhet a few weeks ago.

1. I'm assuming you're from Canada. You got 2 visa exempts by crossing over by land.

2. You may be able to apply for a tourist visa in Savannakhet.

3. You are a tourist, you should bring all your belongings (a suitcase or two) with you when you come to Savannakhet. If you are here as a "long term" tourist, I suggest getting a visa that meets your needs (i.e. Non-B for teaching English, ED visa to learn Thai, etc...)
Benjamin ******
Do'h! I missed that

if you read their post they got ONE "visa on arrival" <- a visa exempt entry by AIR, and then one more "visa on arrival" <- by land. NEITHER of which are 'visas on arrival' :/ but visa exempt entries

That means they would get ONE more 30 day visa exempt entry by land IF they were some how denied a visa from Savannakhet.

you are from Canada, You can apply for a tourist visa. It could be denied so make a plan B just in case. Not sure what you mean with get at least 2 weeks to get their stuff?

Note that by land, if you are denied entry, you just walk back to Cambodia and eventually try to find another way in (maybe another visa type)...

By air, if you are denied entry, you might be put in detention cell until they put you on the next flight back to where you came from. Sometimes they even want to send you back home.. lol

Thanks for your word!

im not a native English speaker and not even close to teach English so do not take my word as correct about the meaning of being denied entry. I hope a English teacher could maybe explain better.

Jean Simon Gaudette Yep, air is limited. What that limit is, nobody knows. It could be 0, it could be 10 (or more); but it's up to the immigration officer to decide. Denied entry means you are denied entry. Even if you get your tourist visa, the border immigration officer can still say you can't enter Thailand.

If you used up your visa exempts, then it's time to either look for a long term visa, or to make plans to leave Thailand and go to a different country.

@Robert ******
even by air?

Wow I did not know that by air is illimited. Thank you
Benjamin ******
Jean Simon Gaudette A couple of problems:

1. If you are denied the tourist visa, you may be able to return by air. You have "unlimited" visa exempts by air (unlimited, until the immigration officer says you hit the limit and they won't let you back in).

2. Tourists don't have rental contracts :\ If immigration sees the rental contract, they won't think you're a tourist. I suggest keeping that hidden.
Robert *******
if you got denied entry it means, no you can not go in. Not even to collect a few items or that you paid rent.

Well I have a lot of stuff and I am not planning to bring it all.

For exemple my laptop, my iPad, my camera, some clothes...

So I just wonder if I go denied can I go back in, in another was?

I have an apartment contract too.

And the people who got rejected, can they at least got a 2 weeks visa to get their stuff?

there is no 2 week visa to get your stuff.
