If you're married and you both have social security and that social security adds up to 128.000 a month in Bhat is that enough for a retirement visa, or do you each have to have 65.000 in Bhat?

I nam American, married to Thai woman. Vast majority of assets in USA. I am curious in general terms how people in similar situation are ensuring their spouse is taken care of when they pass away. Is there life insurance here in Thailand? Other methods?

Thanks.

Hi everyone, I’m helping my 79-year-old mother apply for a Thai retirement visa. She receives about $1,200/month in U.S. Social Security.

Is the combination method (monthly income + partial bank deposit totaling 800,000 THB per year) still accepted?

If so, how does immigration verify the monthly income now? Do the funds need to be transferred into a Thai bank each month?

Thank you for any guidance.

I plan to apply for a 90-day O Non-imigrant retirement visa at the Seattle consulate in US. Regarding the financial evidence, I currently get a social security payment every month of 2,161 USD, which is about 67,000 baht (only a bit higher than the 65,000 baht monthly requirement!). Would that be sufficient and acceptable ?.. Do I still need to show a bank statement of 800,000 THB in funds ? (My understanding is that you only need to prove one or the other financial requirement).

I have a question for Americans on Social Security. Can you have your direct deposit for SS into your Thai bank account?

For Retirement Visa----I work 4 or 5 months a year in the USA ---- I make about $20,000 or $25,000 from this work. My Social Security is only $1163 a moth. I would prefer to show adequate annual income and not put the 800,000 in an account. Is this doable? Will I be charged INCOME TAX on the work income I have in the USA? Thanks
