The general consensus is that an American cannot use a Social Security annual report as proof of income for a retirement visa in Thailand. Instead, applicants must provide one of three types of financial verification: a bank statement showing 800,000 THB seasoned for 2 months, a letter from the embassy confirming a monthly pension of at least 65,000 THB, or proving 12 months of consistent deposits of 65,000 THB or more into a Thai bank account. Therefore, a Social Security statement will not suffice.

There are three potential ways to acquire a One Year Extension of Stay based on Retirement in Thailand:
1. 800K THB banked money seasoned for 2 months before the extension of stay is applied for, three months after the extension of stay is approved, and not to go below 400K THB in-between.
2. A letter from the embassy/ consulate showing a monthly pension of at least 65K THB.
3. 12 months of payment into a Thai bank account flagged from overseas.
The poster is asking if he can use an American social security statement as a replacement for the letter from the embassy. The answer is no.
Suggestions of transferring money into a Thai bank account is accepted, however will be the 12 months of payment into a Thai bank account before being able to apply for the extension of stay.
Honestly, I can't babysit this post with suggestions to use the 12 months of payment. His question is answered, and I don't want this post to be derailed.

I have my SSA deposited in Bangkok Bank in New York, they will forward to a special account here in Chiang Mai. Only can maker counter withdrawals with passport monthly. Yearly extension copy of bank book upgraded that day and bank letter showing the 65 k per month foreign deposits.
I think that's what he's referring to. The answer is, "no, that will not be accepted as proof of income".

Interesting formatting of your question. But no, you can not use social security annual reports to quality. A person CAN use 12 deposits of 65K THB or more each calendar month as proof however.
