Dear Everyone,

LMG insurance(I'm applying for health insurance for OA visa) is asking for my Federal tax identification number(I assume it's social security number). My question is, is it normal that they ask for my SS number? Has anyone here had insurance with Liberty Mutual group? And are you happy with them? Thank you for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the normalcy of LMG insurance requesting their Social Security number for health insurance connected to an OA visa. A comment suggests that if the user holds a retirement visa, they shouldn't have an SS number, as they aren't allowed to work and thus lack tax liabilities.

obviously depends of visa you have if you are here on retirement visa you should not have such number as you are not allowed to work here hence you should not have any tax liabilities if i am right ....

David Only income earned inside Thailand shall be subjected to tax during retirement. Therefore, you will not be obliged to pay any taxes for any income you have earned from overseas. Also, personal income taxes are not required for retirees in Thailand. Note that you can't work in Thailand while on a retirement visa.

David Broadfoot not if yr tax jurisdiction is elsewhere and if you read the thai tax laws it states money bought in from

previous years earnings and used for personal expenses is non taxable .

that's why I thought it was strange that the LMG insurance application asks for it. I've decided to go with another company. Thank you for your help.
