I have a question about COVID extensions after arriving visa exempt. I've already received a 30-day extension (from MTT), which is about to run out. My understanding is that I can now apply for a COVID extension at MTT (they told me as much when I extended) and that I should make an appointment a few days before my current extension expires. I assume it's all the same paperwork as the 30-day extension (copies of passport pages, TM7, entry slip, photo, 1900 Baht), plus perhaps the TM30 from my hotel to be safe. I gather that I would probably be given a temporary extension and asked to come back in one week. My question is (a) what sort of proof is needed that COVID is keeping me here (if any) and (b) whether there are any data points regarding whether COVID extensions are or are not being approved for visa exempt. I was thinking to just say that COVID is raging at my home and I don't feel safe returning.
