A visa agent advised that the 800k in Thai bank for 2 months before application for retirement extension does not need proof of coming from overseas. Is that correct?
Can a visa exemption be used for extension of stay?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Thai visa agent mentioned that proof of the 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account for two months prior to a retirement extension application does not require evidence of overseas transfers. This is correct for the retirement extension process if you're applying from a Non-O visa or a previous extension. However, you cannot directly use a visa exemption to obtain a yearly extension; you must first get a 90-day Non-O visa.

When you are applying for a yearly extension of stay based on being over 50 (retirement) from an Non-O visa or a previous yearly extension there is no proof required to show that the money was transferred in from overseas.
I don't know what you're asking on your second question. If you're asking can you go straight from a visa exempt entry to a year extension based on being over 50 (retirement) the answer is no. You need to get a 90 day Non-O visa first, THEN you can apply for the yearly extension.
AND when you apply for a Non-O visa inside the country you DO need to prove that the 800K baht came in from abroad..
