Hello. I’m almost 59. I’d like to test retirement in Thailand. The only way is to commit to 1 year and then make a decision. Is a retirement visa the only way to live in Thailand for a year?

Hello all, new to the group and thank you for the add.

I have a question regarding a non-immigrant O visa (retirement) and having my spouse(not Thai) join me:

I am able to meet the non-immigrant O visa requirements (50+, funds in Thai bank, etc), however, my wife is not yet 50 y/o so technically can not apply for her own non-immigrant O visa....is there a way to have my wife stay in Thailand long term with some sort of spousal exemption or "tag along" (for lack of a better term) on my non-immigrant O visa?

Or would she have to meet the requirements for a different type of long term visa (looking at 1 year term, plus future renewals).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, our daughter is 4 years old(born in Thailand to 2 parents with work permits) and has started school. The school says they can't get her an Ed visa. I called immigration and they said they cannot do a dependent visa because she doesn't have a valid, current visa. Her last stamp is from 2 years ago when we flew in from a vacation to the US. What are our options?

Edited: We had planned to fly to Laos to get a non-O for her pre-Covid but obviously, that is not an option now. The school says she needs a valid visa because it is a Thai school and not international or bilingual school.

Hi guys.

I am a uk citizen married to a Thai woman.

I have a flight ticket return from London for 4 months.

I will enter Thailand on January 15 by air.

I will be going to Vietnam for a holiday around January 20.

Not sure how long I will stay in Vietnam.

Could be 5 days could be more.

Will be looking for a teaching job.

My question. Do I :

1. Get a non o visa based on marriage from London. ( single 90 days ) £50.

* can I pay 1000 baht at airport when I fly to Vietnam for re - entry permit to keep it alive.

2. Enter on 30 day exempt, fly to HCMC and get non o year visa for 5000 baht.

( non proof of funds )

Thanks for any thoughts.
