Can anyone please advise as to what visa will be the easiest for a British passport holder to get after a work permit expires. Will it be easiest to just fly out and come back on a standard tourist visa and extend? Or is there easier options. Retirement visa or marriage or student visa is not a option. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A British passport holder whose work permit has expired can consider a few visa options. The most straightforward approach may involve leaving Thailand and applying for a visa abroad. One option is to obtain a tourist visa from a Thai consulate which grants a 60-day stay, or they can utilize a 30-day visa exempt entry by briefly exiting and re-entering Thailand. It's noted that this process may not be the easiest but remains one of the primary options available.

I think the 60day is preferred. Thank you!

It will only be after the work permit is done, so 3 months time, but thank you.

the easiest thai consulate to get a tourist visa from in a nearby country is the one in Vientiane Lao.

Keep in mind most consulates are closed until Tuesday because of the Songkran holiday.

@Chr****
, if all you wanted was a 30 day visa exempt entry you wouldn't necessarily have to fly out and back in .

You could just border bounce, <- go to a border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country and stamp right back into thailand on a 30 day visa exempt stamp.

You couldn't fly out. back in and get a 'standard tourist visa', :/

You go to a thai consulate in another country and BUY a tourist visa ;)

You could fly out and back in to get a 30 day visa exempt entry

There is no easier option.

Cancel your current extension of stay based on employment, exit the country, either go to a thai consulate and get a single entry tourist visa which stamps you in for 60 days when you arrive OR come back in on a 30 day visa exempt entry.
