Hello, looking to finally bring my golf clubs to Pattaya. I have a 2 bag allowance unusually, so I thought I’d bring my clubs that are rotting away in a garage in the UK. They are very old and battered, will I need to declare to customs and pay duty? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The general consensus among users is that you do not need to declare your old golf clubs or pay duty when bringing them into Thailand for personal use, especially if they are part of your baggage allowance. Many have shared personal experiences of traveling with their golf clubs without issues, stating these typically fall under personal items, not subject to customs declaration. However, if you intend to leave them in Thailand permanently or if you are shipping them, different rules may apply. It's advisable to check the weight and dimensions to ensure they fit within baggage guidelines.

If you not in a tournament or a pro why bring them. How many days will you play and your lugging them around. Just book a package round of golf clubs cart and hot caddie. Fuc###$k sake

I’m a cheap Charlie and I paid £1200 for them, which was far too much considering I’m💩 at golf🤣🤣

If they are really 'old and battered' you may be better advised to save the cost of extra baggage and put it towards a 'new' set of clubs.. expat groups in Thailand (eg. on fb) are full of listings for used sports equipment at relatively low prices.. i spent less than a hundred quid and got myself some decent clubs.. the higher the transportation cost the more this starts to make sense 😉

thanks Ally I’m only bringing them because I have 2 x 23kg bag allowance which is unusual, otherwise I wouldn’t bother

they normally are classed as your hold luggage with nothing more to pay. And definitely don’t need to pay import tax if you are on a golfing holiday. Just check the dimensions and weight. As long as you are within both you have nothing to worry about

I'm a vacationer, and I always drag my clubs in. No problem.

I had my clubs shipped from Florida. It was a disaster. I was charged $1400 for shipping and $300 inport duty. Not going to name the shipping company but they are well known. The clubs arrived in a box, 1 box, 1 bag 2 sets of clubs. I won’t make that mistake again.

sounds like you were robbed David

Not sure about robbery. I am sure about huge incompetence on the shipping companies part. Especially in their Tampa, Florida office.

I brought mine in a large golf travel bag & also stuffed a bunch of other clothes in it as well. Worked out perfect just had to go thru Oversize Baggage, no extra cost as long as you stay under the weight limit.

If you intend to leave them there the golden ferret have the facility to leave them there !

I have never been stopped by customs in 40 years. But there again never with golf clubs. I seem to perceive it's Thais they stop.

No but I would put them in a golf travel bag as they will need to go in the oversize baggage

from experience last year, managed to fill the bag with some clothes and toiletries too as the bag was so light 😊

Why would you need to declare clubs? It's not money or food.
