Hi All. My wife (non-Thai) has been issued a 1 year Non-B investment visa at CW. I plan to tag on to her visa as a dependant. When the visa was issued she asked the officer for info about how I should apply but was ignored and told to leave :| So I have a few questions for you kind folk.

1) I'm currently on a 1 year education visa that I plan to have cancelled. Do I have to leave and re-enter on a 60 day tourist visa? Is that the best move?

2) Do I take all of the same documents that she used to apply for the investment visa? Plus her passport, our marriage cert etc. And does she have to be present when I apply?

3) Will I have to wait 2-3 months on some other kind of non-immigrant visa like she did before the one year was issued? I'm assuming ultimately the dependant visa will cover the length of my wife's visa.

4) If I have to obtain a tourist visa at an overseas Thai Consulate, which ones can I do so as a non-resident? HK & Vietnam appear to be a no go and Singapore says it will take 3-4 weeks. Laos seems straight forward but it's not the most convenient (lack of direct flights) as I need to do some traveling regionally before I re-enter Thailand on the 60 day visa and start the transition process.

4a) Would I be able to get a re-entry stamp for my newly obtained 60 day tourist visa so i can do one more overseas trip before settling here for a while and changing to a dependant visa?

Quite a bit to digest there. I think I covered everything. Any advice appreciated.

Hi there,

Recently someone made mention of a Thai investment visa. ie: buy a condo. Does anyone know anything about an investment visa? I’ve never heard of such in relation to buying condominium.
