i arrived in hanoi a few days back and need some advice regarding my tax situation before I apply for the DTV. I stayed in thailand for 2+ years on ED visa and started working remotely as freelancer in early 2025. My tax residence during that time was in thailand and not in my home country because i stayed over 183 days in thailand. I don't have any residence in my home country anymore so i'm not obligated to pay tax there. The thing is I never applied for a TIN in thailand because it just wasn't possible in this constellation. How to request a TIN if you technically are not even allwed to work? I can provide old tax filings a few years back if thats requested, but its not even closely related to my freelancing work that i'm doing now as I had a normal 9-5 job back then. So what should I do? Should I now try to get a TIN here somehow retrospectively by contacting a tax lawyer etc? Besides that I have all requirements for the DTV (500k for 3 months, portfolio, client invoices, client contract, bank statements, etc). I don't want to apply for soft power because i actually need to WORK and don't have time for muay thai or cooking. Would appreciate any help.

Not visa related, but topical with bank changes.

Just some info about one of the new bank changes.

I went to Kasikorn bank today for a new passbook, with my old one being full.

After the usual personal questions, they asked for my Tax ref number which has never been asked for before.

I looked through my e.mails on my phone, knowing I had some correspondence with it.

After what seemed like forever I could not find it, and my new passbook was declined.

On returning home I looked again and ( Sods Law) I found it within a couple of minutes, so it is another trip to the bank.

Hi all, question about taxes (yay!). For those holding a DTV visa and are in Thailand longer than 180 days a year. How are you filing your taxes?

Asking for advice!

Hello everyone. I'm living in Thailand with DTV visa currently (I don't have work permit or company). I would like to apply for payout account for Meta Facebook and needing Taxpayer Identification Number(TIN). Where can I apply TIN? If you have any experiences as foreigner content creator in Thailand, kindly please guide me. Thank you in advance.

PLUS : my country,Burma doesn't even have valid tax office and policy for content creator. It's a very messy law and politics sadly.

With DTV visa holders unable to get bank accounts.

How is everyone paying a Thai income tax bill? In the above scenario that they stay in Thailand 180+ and remit taxable income to Thailand via ATM.

DONT tell me that I DONT need to pay Tax in Thailand or nobody pays tax due to lack of resources/language barrier/ etc…….

Looking for good recommendations on an agency and how long it took roughly for you to setup?
