This adapter looks different than the type my parents have in Thailand. Does anyone know if this one will work, specifically in Bangkok for Kindle, laptop, phone charging.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The adapter in question may work in Bangkok, but compatibility depends on the type of power outlet available at your accommodation. Most locations in Thailand use either a 3-pin or 2-pin socket, typically relying on 220v electricity. While many modern electronic devices can handle the voltage and plug formats without issues, it's essential to check the device specifications to ensure it is compatible with 220v. Additionally, some users report that many 3-pin sockets may not be grounded, which could pose safety risks.

Yes, that plug configuration will work in Thailand, as long as its a 3 pin outlet, not a 2 pin outlet. Lots of 2 pin outlets in Thailand.

I have used that same adapter was good for a few months but broke down, you can buy one when you get here at a baNaNa shop for cheap

I think there might be a little hint in the Product Features, specifically

"Works in Thailand"

Use American/US version. Will fit any socket in Thailand.

Nope!

Use an Adapter 3---> 2.

Most Thai power points only have 2 holes for plug insertion not 3 .

do what the locals do snap off the 3rd pin seen them do it so many times

or failing that just cut the plug off and put the bare wires into the socket forcing them in with used skewers!!!

I blew up my andis clipper charging base last trip. You really should read the small print on your devices to make sure it is 220v compatible.

Most 5* hotels have plugs which fit any device although some I’ve needed this.

You really don't need an adapter on modern electronic items. The plugs there will accept a US physical plug and most devices will switch between 110 and 220 by themselves. You can look on the charger to verify, but everything I used, phone, laptop and tablet worked fine without an adapter like that.

Another issue is that I have had plugs in hotel rooms w/o a ground. Yeah, I know it is not optimal safety but in a pinch I need an adapter that does not require a ground plug. But as Stuart Cumming says, the adapter you posted does not convert voltage, only the format of the plug. If you need to convert voltage you need something like this to step down/up. Check out the label on the plug/adapter to see.

many many “three pin” sockets I’ve come across are not grounded here. Zapped many times with that. Nothing to do with voltage or the original question by the OP but really annoying or even potentially lethal to say the least.

yep... 220v is nothing to jack with!

Thailand uses 220v. For most small electronic devices they can handle 110-240v without a hitch. Anything that heats like a kettle or hair tongs will fry unless they’re rated for 220v.

Read the label on the object. It will tell you whether you can use, regardless of any adapter you may use.

Yes that's OK subject to the sockets being 3 pin and not two pin where ever your staying ..most are 3 pin

These type of plug gangs are available everywhere.
