TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the availability of transformers in Thailand for converting US 110V appliances to 240V. Users suggest checking local stores like Lazada and Thaiwatsadu for options. They stress the importance of selecting a transformer with sufficient wattage, especially for devices with motors or heaters, and note that many modern electronics are compatible with both voltages. Recommendations also include considering the cost-effectiveness of purchasing new appliances locally versus using a transformer.

Amorn electronics. FortuneTown and other spots.

Transformers get hot. You'll probably do better to buy local blenders, etc. As noted above, you don't need a transformer for modern IT equipment.

Look at the wattage of each appliance. Calculate your maximum concurrent load by adding the wattage of the appliances that will be in use at the same time. Buy a transformer with at least 20% surplus capacity.
Also, look at the cost of buying 220 volt appliances vs a transformer.

What appliances? Many devices these days are universal input, they work everywhere in the world.
many modern appliances use what are called universal input power supplies. Look at the product label, if it says 100-240V or VAC it is universal input and will work fine on any world mains voltage. I am not saying all appliances are like that.
I'd recommend you to go to a local Chang fixing electric. And let him build one like this. This one I right now don't use but it's good for a few thousand watt. I use it with some Powertools.
There are very few things you need a actual transformer for. Almost all electronics and similar devices will work fine. Look at the sticker to see. Items like hair driers, curling irons, or other “analog” devices will typically need a transformer

Any step down transformer, make sure the watts is higher than required. I got two 1500 and 2000 and just plug a adaptor so I can share power. Mostly for my musical equipment and cooking equipments from USA. They are heavy.
You need a step down transformer. It’s also depends on the size of appliances. For hair dryer/ charger it’s best to get 1000 but for any bigger like your drill get 2000 which is the big one. Small ones is not big enough.
I brought my Christmas tree with lights from the States ordered step down from Lazada it blown with in 15 minutes. My tree were 5 foot. I was told it’s best to get commercial grade which it’s heavy and can handle the power. Remember to not to buy to big it’s not good either google it to see which size transformer is best for specific appliance.
You can get small ones, but there are very few items they will work with. I have this one i bought in nyc, and Lazada has a similar one. I use it for a WaterPik. Most electronics are rated 100-240v, and don’t need an adapter. Thinks with motors or heaters would need a huge transformer, cheaper to get a new item here. And power here is 50 cycles, USA 60 cycles, motors will run at a different speed.

Battery should be the same. If you live near a Thaiwatsudu store, they may have them, you can take your battery and check.
i researched for you. It seems the charger consumes up to 300w, so you epuld need a much more expensive converter. You can possibly modify the usa charger but it’s highly technical. If you plug it into the power here it will blow an internal fuse. However, Milwaukee tools are available here, with 240v chargers. There’s many on Lazada.
Nope. The travel converters are simply sine wave adapters. When the load is too high they go flat and output the full voltage. I ruined an expense device stupidly using one of these when it had a significant power draw.

You will need a transformer but it depends on what you need to convert. Never really seen a specific brand of transformer here except the industrial ones.
