I am going to Vientiane to apply for a DTV visa. This is my plan:
-I will exit to Laos without a re-entry permit.
-My current non-B visa will be automatically canceled upon departure.
-I will then apply for your DTV visa.
-Once approved, I will proceed to apply for my spouse’s DTV visa.
-After obtaining the DTV visa, I will return to Thailand.
-Additionally, I will cancel my work permit with I’m back in Thailand.
My question is: Will not canceling my work permit prior to leaving Thailand cause any trouble for getting the DTV? Someone told me it would.
Any advice would be appreciated since our tix are booked to leave on Sunday and we won’t have time to cancel the work permit in person. TIA!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to exit Thailand to apply for a DTV visa in Vientiane but is concerned about whether not canceling their work permit before departure might affect their DTV visa application. The community comments suggest that the work permit and visa situation is crucial and that failing to cancel the work permit may impede the issuance of the new visa.
