From non B to DTV - any issues?
Hey, has anyone experience with going from a non B, so workpermit, to DTV worcation?

My work permit is gonna be cancelled in August by my employer after I resign and I wanted to go to Vietnam (or wherever would be best) right after to apply for worcation DTV (I have clients with my own company outside of Thailand and clients are outside of Thailand as well).

Is there anything specific I need to keep in mind or watch out for? Will it be fine to go and apply right after my visa is cancelled?

There was someone yesterday who reported being rejected and had previous employment in Thailand and used a Thai bank account for the proof of funds, and the interviewer questioning the Thai bank account. There had also been the last few weeks some other reports of people on an ED previously while having a Thai bank account being rejected after being asked for proof that the funds in the account came from foreign sources and that they actually studied on the visa. So these reports imply problems when using a Thai bank account.

I was on non b and switched to DTV workcation and gotten accepted  earlier this month, no problem!

Here’s what I did —> after my visa and wp was cancelled, I left a day before it was expiring. Went to Hanoi, applied 1 day for the DTV visa after the expired non b visa stamp date I had. Accepted in 5 business days with all proper documents submitted

Went back to Bangkok the day after I got my DTV accepted

This is how I did it: told my employer to cancel my work permit for me. They then said I have until my extension of stay expires. Left the country on that day, went to Laos, applied that same week -> approved then back into Thailand the day after approved. Very easy process and no issues at all. Good luck!

Once your work permit is cancelled you need to go to immigration and cancel your extension of stay. If you are actually on a visa you can't cancel it and will need to wait for it to expire
