Any help would be appreciated.

I am an American that received his new passport via the American embassy in Bangkok. The issue is the embassy doesn’t give a letter for the new passport. Will I have any issues getting a tourist stamp on my new passport without the letter?? I ran out of pages, is why I got the new passport issued.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American expat who recently received a new passport without an accompanying letter from the American embassy in Bangkok is seeking advice on whether this will affect his ability to obtain a tourist stamp in Thailand. Most commenters indicate that it is no longer necessary to have a letter from the embassy, and suggest bringing both the old and new passports to the immigration office. They clarify that tourist visas cannot be transferred between passports but that individuals can carry both passports while traveling.

I had the same issue I ran out of pages to stamp but I instead got an emergency passport because they said it would take 4-6 weeks to get the real one but I only had a 30 day visa. Curious how long did it take you to get yours? Did you use the service where you mail it in? Also they transferred my stamp at the airport when I showed them both my passports

NO letters issued anymore>

They will transfer all relevant info>

OR

you can use both passports if only a tourist visa

You cannot transfer tourist visas anyway only extensions so don't worry

It seems the Embassy letter is no longer required by Immigration. The UK Embassy have just announced they are no longer issuing letters for new UK passports issued in BKK.

They probably won't transfer a tourist stamp, just carry both old and new until you leave

yes they will transfer a tourist stamp. When they transfer a stamp into a new passport, they put a stamp in with the database number for all your past interactions with immigration.

Multiple embassies have stopped issueing the letter. Just take both of your passports to your immigration office and you shouldn't have any issues.
