I’m in Thailand now on a metv when I go to Vietnam can I apply for a non o visa even though my metv doesn’t run out until November I want to open a bank account so I can season it with 65000 a month before I actually apply for the retirement visa Tia I really have no idea if I can do this
Answer summary
The individual currently in Thailand on a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) is inquiring about the feasibility of applying for a Non-O visa after traveling to Vietnam, despite their METV being valid until November. They wish to open a bank account to meet the requirement of transferring 65,000 THB monthly before applying for a retirement visa. According to community feedback, they cannot apply for another visa until their METV expires, and they will need at least 800,000 THB in their bank account for a specified duration before applying for an extension based on retirement.

1. You can't apply for another visa until the METV expires.

2. You need a full 12 months of 65k transfers before you can use that for an extension of stay, and the transfers also have to take place while you are on an appropriate visa

As you're Australian you are going to need to obtain a 90 day Non-O visa using money, either 800k baht or 3 months of 65k baht per month income in your Australian bank account as long as you apply outside of Thailand. When you enter Thailand on that visa you need to open a bank account and deposit a minimum of 800k baht into it which must be there for 2 months before you can apply for a 12 month extension of stay. During this period you can also transfer 65k baht from overseas every month to be used for the 2nd extension of stay and when you receive that you no longer need to hold sums in your account, the 65k baht transfers can be spent as and when they arrive

First extension can't be based on monthly income unless your Embassy still offers a income affidavit.

You will need 800 000baht 2 months before you apply for your extension of stay ( based on retirement. This is not a visa. )

And you also can't actually apply for a new visa until the one you have is expired.

You can’t you need the 800k in your account the other way is if your embassy issues a financial statement
