TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a 60-day visa exemption in Thailand and is planning a short trip to Laos with their Thai spouse. Concerns are raised about the re-entry process and obtaining a new visa exemption upon returning to Thailand. Community comments clarify that exiting the country cancels the current visa exemption, but re-entering typically allows for another 60-day exemption visa. However, entry is ultimately at the discretion of the immigration officer, and having proof of genuine tourism intentions, such as a return ticket and previous travel history, may aid re-entry. Suggestions are also offered for longer-term visa options based on marriage.

Go to immigration with your Thai wife, a copy of your marriage certificate, fill out the TM7 form, and pay 1,900 baht. You will then receive a visa extension for another 60 days.
really not looking to extend my stay...just go to Loa with my wife for a few days and then come back to our home.

Just make sure you spend at least a couple nights in Laos as that's a requirement at many of the borders now to be allowed back into Thailand if you don't have a visa.

Why not apply non-o based on marriage then? Then you have proper visa and give you 90 days on entry that you can extend 1 year ๐คท
fair enough, but if you scared entry I still recommend non-o then you will not face any issues with immigration

Thanks for the info. I'm not too too worried about not regaining entry. My passport proves I've been out of Thailand for 6 months prior to this entry and I have a return ticket home.

As soon as you exit Thailand your current visa exemption is canceled..
When you re-enter you will get another 60 day exemption..
However your entry to Thailand is always at the discretion of the Immigration officer you are dealing with on the day..
If for whatever reason they believe you are not a genuine tourist and abusing the visa exemption entry system to live in Thailand you can be refused entry..
