Hello, I want to come to Thailand in October on the Phuket Sandbox scheme - and stay in Thailand for 5 months...

Any advise which kind of visa I will have to apply for, where and how ? I thought I would come in on a normal tourist visa, but how can I manage to stay for 5 months...?

I want to avoid any visa runs as it is not sure I could enter the kingdom then again due to the Covid situation then...

Thank you !

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the appropriate visa to apply for in order to stay in Thailand for 5 months under the Phuket Sandbox scheme. They initially consider a regular tourist visa but seek advice on managing a longer stay without needing to do visa runs due to COVID-19 restrictions. Comments suggest that a tourist visa allows for 90 days with an extension, and they should explore options like an education visa, a COVID-19 extension if available, or a retirement visa if eligible.

Hans if you enter with a Tourist Visa you get 60 days on arrival plus added 30 with extension for 1900 Thai baht at Thai Immigration..= 90 days stay.

Beyond that you will need to look at available visa options...Ed visa for Thai language...COVID extension of 60 days if still available after September 30th.

And a retirement visa is available if you have 800,000 Thai baht to deposit into your Thai bank account in your name.

As you said the border runs are over with COVID closing all neighbor borders.

how about a quick flight to TPE with same day return to bkk. Would that be eligible? (Or HKG, etc)?

@Alan ********
sorry No. You would have to once again meet the requirements for entry into Thailand...including quarantine or the Phuket sandbox plan.

there are no "quick flights out and back in" because you have to quarantine again when you re-enter thailand
