TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on obtaining a long-term visa for themselves and their mother after losing their job in Dubai, with a preference for moving to Phuket, Thailand. Responses from the community suggest options such as applying for a Tourist Visa initially, considering a retirement visa if over 50 years of age, or looking into the Elite Visa for longer stays.

Easiest way is to get an Elite Visa.. Will be also cheaper than workpermit..

I think you have that the wrong way around- volunteering is work and you can't volunteer. Conversely, you can own a small business but you can't WORK in the small business, you would need to employ staff to do whatever needs to be done. You don't need a work permit to own a business, only to work in it.

yes it's not going to be easy I don't think it will happen especially if they don't have the correct funds and every other things they require

But this Egyptian gentleman wants to come with his Mother and live long term in Thailand.

...What kind of work will you be doing in Phuket?

...If you are age 50+ you and Mother could apply for a retirement visa. But no working allowed.

...Apply for a Tourist Visa in Egypt to begin with. That gives you both 60 days on arrival plus added 30 days extension from local Thai Immigration office 1,900 Thai baht

...long term visas are expensive if under age 55...500,000 Thai baht for 5 years stay in Thailand. But work not permitted.

Ayman Farouk El Faramawy not really if you are needing to work in Thailand.

Working requires a work permit and getting one is difficult.

What kind of work were you doing?

I'm 45 didn't reach 50 yet so I'm wondering if there is any way to get long term visa rather than retirement one?
