I went into immigration today and they extended my visa until the 2nd Feb only . I am very confused as my current visa expires on the 29th. Why did I not get 60 days ? Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about their visa extension, which was granted only until February 2, despite their current visa expiring on January 29. Responses suggest that the current status is "under consideration," and the user will need to return on February 2 to finalize the 60-day extension. Clarifications indicate that there is no additional fee for this process, and the user should pay attention to the specific stamps received during their immigration visit.

Okay, this is a straight forward process that she did
AND
that would be done at EVERY immigration office.
From what they posted, they were on an ED visa extension.
Unfortunately just letting an extension run out doesn't cancel it (meaning you can't apply for any other extension) SO she cancelled the ED extension effective Jan 19, was given until the 29th of Jan on that stamp.
Then immediately applied for a 60 day covid extension, got the 14 day under consideration stamp and will return Feb 2 to get the 60 day extension inked in.
The only question really will be; when she goes to get the 60 day extension will they start it from the 19th <- the date she applied OR the 29th <- the date she was stamped in until when she cancelled the ed extension.

this was the stamp she got when she cancelled the extension of the ED visa
notice the effective date of the 19th of Jan and the hand written date of the 29th (how long she can stay here on that stamp)

This stuff isn't brain science or rocket surgery people. Pay attention to what is happening to your passport, to what stamps you are getting AND if you don't understand what's going on ASK the immigration officer while you're there.

this is the standard 60 day covid extension 14 day under consideration stamp (note the report back date Feb 2 is two weeks from the date she applied)

Don’t worry just go back on the 2nd and they will give you the remaining days

So they gave me 2 stamps today but I don't see anything that says under consideration
