TLDR : Answer Summary
The user reports their PayPal account was blocked, prompting a discussion about widespread PayPal issues among expats in Thailand. Various comments suggest reasons for the block, including changes in PayPal's policies regarding personal accounts, new anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, and the need for business account verification. Many users recommend alternative services such as Wise and Payoneer, and express frustration with PayPal's restrictions in Thailand.

Thailand is blocking Paypal, it is the reason I moved to use Revolut for my international banking business.

check new paypal's condition. It started just January 18. You can use your Paypal to buy or pay online goods or service but you can't get paid or get the money transferred to you from outside thailand.

I think after you're blocked, you are blocked.

years ago I set-up Paypal both the US and Thai version. I found it wasn't worth the hassle. Now I have a local bank account and my US bank account. I transfer money between as needed.

You would also have to delete cookies or app as it will remember your location. Or use a fresh device and a vpn. That is assuming it was not originally set up in Thailand. Personally I use moneygram to move money and visa to pay online. Plenty of wallets out there

There are TWO issues. One is a Thailand specific issue as noted. The second issue is that due to new USA tax regulations PayPal must verify (by ID etc) any account that made any BUSINESS transaction. Failure to verify is closing accounts worldwide.

PayPal in Thailand is a no go.

Not been able to access mine in 18 months.

The double security phone message for me was UK and there is no way I have found to change it to a Thai number.

f you haven't heard about
@Payo****
, then maybe you should have a look.

It's a payment system allowing you to invoice clients and receive payments in USD, EUR or GBP, then you can withdraw local currency from an ATM wherever you are in the world.

There's so many features to assist your money tracking and making sure you get paid.

The long story short many Thai people lost their money due to variuos policy's of PayPal , on top businesses loose money on charge back by fraudster . So many complaints made to Singapore Government ( As they were registered ) so now they are not allowed to do business with individual only business with strict paperwork. But if you have registered PayPal account outside thailand you can use it .

Use my link so I get a small bonus.

actually this time it is not a scam. You need to go into your Thai PayPal account, and verify that you are a legally registered business in order to keep using the account. Personal account use is ending completely in Thailand.

Last month they advised that because of some rule change, you couldn’t have funds in a Thai account unless it was a business account. No idea if that’s the reason but I suspect it is. You can send money from Thailand, but can’t receive.
