How long is the waiting time for visa approval after receiving 'Pending Approval' from the Thai Embassy in Hanoi?
Hi everyone! I applied for a DTV visa through the Thai Embassy in Hanoi on August 12, and I received the “Pending Approval” status on August 17.
Has anyone applied through Hanoi recently? How long did you wait after receiving the “Pending Approval” status before getting the final approval?

Hey there! I applied around three weeks ago now in Hanoi, I was asked to submit extra documents on Friday the 7th and now my status has been on 'processing' ever since. It's such a long waiting game! I'm worried that something has gone wrong because it's been so long!

I can't help with Hanoi specifically — mine went through Tokyo, so it's a different queue.
For whatever it's worth, here is my own file. I filed on 23 April 2026 and was approved on 2 June, so about six weeks. My agent said one to three weeks is more normal for Tokyo and called mine a slow one. Part of that was my own doing: the embassy rejected my application photo twice, and each round trip cost days.
The part I would plan for is where you sit while you wait. I didn't stay put. I flew back to Thailand and entered as a tourist while the application was still processing, and the approval landed while I was already in the country.

That’s interesting. I thought you had to stay in the country where you applied for the DTV the entire time, and that you weren’t allowed to enter Thailand while it was still being processed.Wataru ********

Mine was pending approval for 1 day. But my application took 10 days before it got approved under the workcation category. I got approved 4 days ago. Hope this helps.
