Why is HMRC documentation required when applying for DTV from the UK?
Hey, just a question regarding applying for DTV from the UK
I’m looking to apply for DTV from my country of residence which is the UK
I see people being asked for HMRC documentation sometimes.
What is the reason for this? Is it to check that your income in your bank statements provided matches your self assessment or is it purely to see that you have been submitting your tax returns in general.

I had this exact same request when I applied for my DTV last year. Thai immigration wanted a P60 to validate my earnings and tax contributions as I work as a contractor inside of IR35. They requested it mid way through the process and I had my visa accepted.

They don't ask everyone. I think what they are concerned with is income confirmation, it's just a very official proof you actually have the income you claim. They may not ask if your income proof is good enough. I don't think their interest in it is tax related, but income confirmation.

They are not doing HMRCs job fir them and trying to figure out if you have paid the taxes you should have. Not their business.

I did think the same to be honest Assumed they just wanted to see you had been filing some sort of self assessment

They also ask for an officiated accountant letter and encorpration statement, if you are going workstream it has to be water tight.

As a foreigner in Thailand, you do not get support of the Thai Government.
You need to pay your own bills, get yourself housing at your own cost.
No social security or a special DTV refugees fund.
That is the reason the Thai Government like to know if you have enough income to support your nearly 6 years in Thailand.

quite the opposite….. I’m not asking if they will support me. I don’t need that 🙂 I’m asking if they will reject me for showing I make more than HMRC know Like every normal person I try to limit the amount of tax I pay so I can actually survive in England 😂
