Hello I'm a 61 year old male in Canada .I'm thinking about getting a DTV visa and want to verify that all is needed is 10,000 baht for the visa and if I get a 180 day extension it's 1900 baht. This visa last 5 years. Any idea how long it could take to get this ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian citizen looking to apply for a DTV visa must confirm that the initial cost is 10,000 baht for the visa application and 1,900 baht for a 180-day extension. However, the actual cost may vary as embassies often mark up this amount; the fee for the visa may be around 650 CAD. The processing time at the Thai embassy in Canada is typically 10-15 business days. It's important to have proof of more than US$13,500 in your bank account for at least six months. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate their income through work or participate in a soft power program. It is suggested to consider border hops for extensions rather than applying for an in-country extension, which requires more paperwork.

What entry scheme do you plan on using, soft power or digital nomad? Do not do an in country extension. Just border bounce or fly to a nearby country for an hour, day, or week. An in country extension will require all updated original paperwork requirements plus plus. Just don't.

That's the cost of the visa but not all that's required. You also need to either be a remote worker/ freelancer or apply using one of the soft power options, so you need to show your income from your work or have signed up to (and paid for) a minimum 6 months soft power activity

You also need to prove you've had more than US$13,500.00 in your country's bank account for at least the last 6 months.

That is embassy specific. Some embassies approve same day deposits, others 3-6 months

Your costings are correct. Embassies do a mark up on the 10K THB so you need to check the actual cost on the embassy site you apply from. 1900 for extension but it is much easier to do a border hop. Can take around 10 business days.
