Hi group! US citizen here, married to a Thai national, applying for Non-Imm O visa. Which Thai embassies in neighboring countries (Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam , etc.) have you used and recommend? Online info is all over the place—personal experiences appreciated to help me choose! Thanks!tna

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat US citizen married to a Thai national is seeking recommendations for Thai embassies in neighboring countries (like Laos, Malaysia, and Vietnam) for applying for a Non-Immigrant O visa. Community members share positive experiences with the Thai embassy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, highlighting a smooth application process that took around 5 business days. Some caution is given regarding the Malaysian embassy's reported difficulties. Key tips include providing proof of residence, such as the Vietnam entry stamp, along with necessary financial statements for the application.

Marriage visa online while in DaNang sent statements from my retirement accounts showing over $15k. They did need a picture of the Vietnam entry stamp, my hotel location and a copy of the bill.

Hi American here. Wife is Thai and German. I used Ho Chi Minh evisa. I applied last week on Monday for my Non Imm O single entry and got the approved visa back on yesterday (Sunday) just remember that the proof of residence they are looking for is a picture of the Vietnam entry stamp in your passport. I didnt send that in at first if I did then it would have been approved on Thursday lol.

beautiful thank you for the information. Were you working off a list of requirements and would you mind sharing what they were looking for on the finances? I know I should check the embassy site directly and I have but I would also like to know coming from someone who has already been approved.

We used the Ho Chi Minh city embassy (we were in Da Nang). It took 5 business days, no issues at all. I've read multiple posts saying that Malaysia is one of the most difficult, but no first-hand experience.

would you mind sharing what they required for financials? I ask because this is the part I am unsure about as I know it varies location by location. 🙏

we did the retirement visa so it was 800k, but I think it's only 400k for marriage (I could be wrong)
