Which pay monthly long term travel insurance are people using? Safety wings or Genki seem to come up best on searches.
Can anyone recommend which is better? Basic package for Safety wings comes out around £42 a month and Genki around £55 a month.
Does anyone have experience with either in terms of claim issues etc?
Thanks 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around recommendations for long-term travel insurance, particularly comparing SafetyWing and Genki. While some users have positive experiences with SafetyWing, mentioning smooth claim processes, others report significant issues, including denied claims and delays in reimbursements. Allianz Ayuthaya is suggested as an alternative for those seeking reliable coverage. Comparisons focus on pricing, claims experience, and overall satisfaction with the insurance providers.
I used to use safetywing but had 2 issues on 2 separate claims. Safetywing are only your representative and not the insurer and as such they can only appeal a claim refusal on your behalf. The issues are mostly the insurer and their claim handling agents... To this end safetywing is another cog in a commission wheel.
I had a lot of issues with Safety Wing. They refused to pay out my legitimate claim and I had to front a very expensive hospitalisation bill. It took months and tons of calls from both the hospital and me to get back only part of the money.
I switched to Allianz Ayuthaya, not a travel insurance, but they provide worldwide health coverage (apart from the US). I'm happy with them so far and made a few claims without issues.
