Bearing in mind the restrictions that Thailand has for ex-pats can anybody say which of the following has the fewest rules for living in Laos, Cambodia or Vietnam?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights the ease of living for expatriates in Cambodia and Vietnam compared to Thailand, emphasizing that many expats have successfully navigated visa extensions in Cambodia without issues. An elite visa option is also mentioned for those with sufficient funds.

Yes iived in Cambodia for over a year before no issues. I came with a 6 month visa and extended it twice. Not one problem. I'm thinking of moving back. Thailand has become too stressful and unnecessary with the visa changes every other rainstorm. 🙄

Cambodia is very easy to live in. Vietnam same...

If you don’t need to work and have coin get an elite visa. No restrictions.

Think i might move to cambodia.

Lived here many years never been restricted

I just wondered what restrictions you had here

Could you elaborate

Maybe I'm missing something

@Kyle *******
what wrong with a 6mth. ME visa. Cheap in your own country!

. Typical tourists dont stay that long. If they can afford 3-6 months "holiday" a year then they can afford an elite visa.

Except if you’re a tourist who likes to come every year for 3-6 months then it’s a grey area with a lot of problems.

Good for you, but I didn't ask how you managed to live here with out any problems I asked which of our neighbours had the fewest restrictions.

@Kyle *******
. There are correct visas. Spouse visas for spouses. Work visas for workers. Volunteer visas for volunreers. Dependant visas for dependants. Education visas for students. Business visas for business owners.

If you dont fit into one of these categories then you are a tourist. And theres a visa for that too,

@Kyle *******
let me check with the Russian’s they don’t seem to have a problem

There is no correct visa for most people under 40. If there was, everyone would be using it instead of tourist visas.
Stephen ************
I was forty when I came never had a problem

If you have the correct visa and enough in the bank but if you become an extended tourist sure you have a problem

@Kyle *******
thats because there has never been so many people working illegally
Kyle ********
That's not the case for almost every under the age of 50.
