US Passport - Tourist Visa

I got my last visa extension for 7 days and the woman at Chaengwattana said I can fly out and come back. if I want another 30 days. I didn't expect to stay this long. Any suggestions which country to fly to? I was thinking of a one day turn around to Vietnam.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US passport holder considering a quick visa run to extend their stay in Thailand has several options. Initially, Vietnam was suggested for a day trip, but travel restrictions and quarantine requirements have made this less feasible. Other suggestions included Myanmar, where a visa can be processed quickly, though a visa is needed beforehand, and Cambodia, but current restrictions prevent entry from the USA. Singapore poses similar issues with quarantine requirements. Travelers are advised to stay informed as regulations are changing rapidly.

Singapore have just stopped people flying unless they go into quarantine so that may not be the best choice either! I know this as I was supposed to be flying there this evening and was told at the airport.

And I do know that it says "arriving from" and that's why I called to clarify. I told them I have been in Thailand for the past 4 months and I was told it doesn't matter.

A whole bunch of people are stranded in Bali too because they won't allow anyone to leave the airport and they also won't extend anyone's visas

"1. Passengers arriving from France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Spain or USA are not allowed to enter Cambodia."

I know some people are going to try and say "but we're arriving by Thailand", but they are going by the passport country and not the arrival point.

Seems Vietnam is still okay, for a run and to get a new 30 day stay in Thailand. It is getting harder, time to start thinking of a plan B.

as US passport holder, you can still do a border bounce flight to Vietnam. There is a list of countries whose citizens cannot do a visa-free entry to Vietnam any more, and I think, the USA are not on that list. However, boarding a flight to Thailand in Vietnam could pose to be impossible without presenting a medical clearance and a travel insurance covering a covid-19 infection up to the amount of 100,000 USD. Please check on the US embassy Vietnam website for instruction and guidance
