Hello everyone! I need to extend my retirement visa in Chiang Mai before September 28. If I plan to submit my application on September 10, do I need to ensure my bank account balance exceeds 800,000 THB by July 11 (two months prior) or by June 11 (three months prior)? Thank you for your assistance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry is about the timing related to the bank balance requirement for extending a retirement visa in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Users suggest ensuring that the bank account balance exceeds 800,000 THB at least 2 months prior to the application date. Some suggest it might be safer to maintain that balance for 3 months, while others recommend checking with the immigration office for specific requirements.

Just keep your bank account all the time that way, and you don’t have to worry about it

Do it earlier than you have said.

Hopefully not.

But if not all goes according to plan.

10 days will not be enough to get your house in order.

Give yourself at 30 days.

Good luck.

Just as importantly balance must not go below b400,000 at any time.

To be on the safe side I'd suggest back up 3 months before even if some might only want 2 months.

I have never taken the chance of touching the 800k at all. They go thru my 1 year statement everytime very carefully.

if you touch it within 3 months after renewal or 2 months before renewal, yes they will not give visa. I just play it safe and never touch the money. The only way around the money requirements is to use a visa agent that has connections to do so and that is expensive.

Nope... you need 800k 2 month before application and 3 month after extension granted. The other time not under 400k.

You are not extending a visa. You are applying for an extension of stay.

You better ask your immigration office; some wants 2 months and other 3 months
