TLDR : Answer Summary
A member inquired about the due date for Visa Extension while on an O-A visa issued in London. Responses clarified that the extension of stay is based on the entry stamp date, which was April 4, 2021, making the extension due by April 3, 2022. It's important to note that a visa allows entry into Thailand, while the entry stamp indicates the period one can legally stay. Members advised obtaining the extension when 30 days or less remain on the entry stamp.

That’s the only stamp we got at Bangkok , 22 January 22 is when my medical insurance needs to be renewed .

2-month seasoning for funds for your very first extension based on being over 50 from non-OA entry.

But how will I do the funds as it’s based on 12 months ??

@Dave *******
I believe for the first one year extension of stay based on retirement, you do not need to season the funds for the entire year, but only for two months.

Tod Daniels or James Miller, is this correct?

Benjamin Hays. It's two months before the date of application, not necessarily the expiry date of the entry stamp. So if the OP goes early to apply, he must ensure the 800k has already been in the bank for two months

Dave Haynes. If it's first extension from the original visa, it's two months before date of application that the 800k needs to be in the bank, and three months after.

You can stay no later then January 22, 2022 (the length of your insurance policy). You will need to get an extension of stay before that, or assuming the borders are re-open, border bounce and return (you will need to show medical insurance for the length of your stay)

So if I did do a visa bounce in March 2022 as my visa would have expired I would need a re-entry permit I assume and then I understand , renew extension of stay March 22 if I stayed out snd never left the kingdom ?

As your stamp, if you get new insurance covering your Non-OA and get out(within your current stamp - 22 Jan 2022) /re-enter Thailand before Feb 2022 (the visa sticker expiration) you would be stamped for another year (or until your insurance ends). In that case, you don't have to worry about the first extension for about one more year.

Anyway, you cannot stay with your current stamp later than 22nd Jan 2022 You need to apply for an extension or bounce back.

@Ellie ******
why are you saying he cant stay past 22 january 2022? If he entered 4th April 2021, he should be stamped in until 3rd April 2022..
Ellie *******
@Mikkel ******
his current stamp is until 22 January because of his insurance coverage. He posted the stamp photo below.

You're confusing two separate things entirely

ONE is the visa (sticker) validity and that's a year from the date it's issued (meaning you can enter/exit thailand as many times as you want during the year the visa is valid for.

BUT

A visa doesn't let you stay here, it just lets you in with the amount of time allowed by that particular visa type. What lets you stay IN thailand is the entry stamp you got when you stamped in. Now on an O-A visa it gets you stamped in for a year from the date you entered (as long as you're insured for that amount of time)

So if you're not going to exit/re-enter the country just before the VISA (the sticker) expires to get another year entry stamp your FIRST yearly extension at the immigration office should be coming due around April 3rd 2020

Most offices let you apply for a new extension when you have 30 days or less left on your entry stamp, so you could apply for your year extension any time after March 3rd 2022

Look in your passport for your "admitted to" stamp. It should be stamped one year after you entered Thailand (so around April 3, 2022).

You will apply for an extension of stay based on retirement AT MOST IMMIGRATION OFFICES when you have 30 days or less remaining on your existing stamp.

You have a Non-OA visa, which is multiple entry. IF the borders reopen, I highly recommend bouncing out of Thailand in late March/ early April, for another free one year stamp. Then you won't have to get an extension of stay until early 2023

LOOK at the entry stamp you go when you stamped in to the country , if you stamped in April 4th and got an entry stamp saying "admitted until" April 3, 2022 that's when your extension would be due
