Just wondering if when applying for 90day visa from 30 day entry exemption. When is the best time to start the process? At near the end of 30 days or at anytime during as we donโt want to lose any part of the 30 days?

TLDR : Answer Summary
It's best to start the application process for a 90-day visa while you still have at least 16 to 21 days remaining from your initial 30-day entry exemption. Starting sooner is advisable to avoid any delays in processing and to ensure you don't lose any time on your current stay.

Depending on where you are in Thailand you need either 15 or 21 days left on your stamp. If you haven't yet taken the 30 day extension on your 30 day entry stamp you can do that first.
We are staying in Bang Na area near the airport. So we could do 30 extension then near the end of that go for 90 day visa? Is there any boarder running for any of these?
That will be too late as you need to have 15 to 21 days remaining on your extension to apply for an in country Non-O Visa because of the under consideration period. Apply for the 30 day tourism extension then apply for your Non-O after 1 week writing off the remaining days of your extension as a consequential loss.
no border running, but in Bang Na you need to determine the immigration office for your area. You could well be in Samut Prakan rather than Bangkok. And you can't leave it till near the end, if you don't have the required number of days left they won't even let you apply

You must have at least 16 days remaining in order to change you status. Sometime it takes a day shorter or longer than that. I would say do it asap.
if approved, your 90 days starts from date of the application. Yes you would lose many days. Also if approved, they will keep your application for 15-16 days, then you have to come for the second time to actually get the non/o stamp on your passport.
Same day procedure, available thru an agent I guess. ( In BKK office)
