When does the first Covid extension for a Thai visa start, from the application date or visa expiry date?

Hi all, I have an appointment this week at Bangkok CW immigration for my first Covid extension (I'm on a 60d TR + 30d extension). Is it confirmed that the first Covid extension is counted from the date where you apply and not when your current 30d extension ends?

I'm asking as my current 30d extension ends on 7 Feb and if I go this week, I would give 17 days away. So considering taking the risk and wait until 25 Jan or 4 Feb (in case they extend the Covid extensions)

#covidextensions

Thanks Mike

TLDR : Answer Summary

Various comments provide insights into personal experiences, suggesting that the timing may depend on the immigration office handling the application.

and I think that the O/P understands the situation enough to make an educated decision. They either go apply for the covid extension (and take what ever they get from it whether it starts the day they apply or is added to their expiration date) OR they leave the country and go back to where they came from 😮

Good luck (y)

Chaeng Watthana does not proceed covid extensions, I've done two of those at MTT because CW redirected me there. If you succeded to apply at CW please let us know but I would be surprised. When I got my first extension there they made it start at the end of my current visa, not on the day of application but there is no rule regarding this.

You are confused 😕

t Chaengwattana DOES process covid extensions for people who entered on a REAL tourist visa (that they got from the thai consulate in their country before they came here).

IF you were directed to Muang Thong Thani it means you did NOT enter the country on a tourist visa but you showed up here and were stamped in FREE on what's called a "visa exempt entry" <- people on that type of entry stamp go to MTT.

It is your decision if you want to wait or not.

Nobody can predict what will happen, but look at the bright side of live.

You do not loose 17 days, you gain 43 extra days to stay inside Thailand based on unable to travel back home.

, fully understood. I always look at the bright side of life and appreciate every single day in this paradise - and that's why it hurts so much to give away 17 days in Thailand ☀. But who knows what happens, maybe the extensions continue even after March.
