Hi Guys, this is a back up from my previous post. After numerous trips to immigration and the Thai embassy, it has become very clear that, I need to leave Thailand and apply for a non o visa before returning. My wife and I are planning a road trip to the Laos border and then applying from Laos. If any you guys have done this and want to share your experiences and maybe toss in any relevant tips it would be most appreciated. As a footnote, my wife is Thai and a Thai passport holder.

There is a massive market on the river front that I really enjoyed and, I remember there was a really good Vietnamese restaurant on the esplanade plus the big colourful dragon statues. I was only there for a couple of hours but Iโm sure there is a lot more to explore.

Just make sure you realize that you have to submit your visa application online after entering Laos, but your application is not complete until you go to the embassy between 9-11AM and make the payment for the application in cash. Only Laos and Myanmar have this oddity about paying in person (and Myanmar even requires an appointment to pay.)

ORIGINAL POSTER
Brandon Thurkettle sorry, last question. Does my Thai wife require a visa to enter Laos?
That's up to you. It can make getting through the border faster if you apply online a few days before. Otherwise you wait in line with everyone else for visa on arrival.
I did mine 2 months ago and used an agent in Vientiane he was great to deal with but comes with a cost of course he picked me up at the Nong Khia Bridge Laos side took me to my hotel and made sure he had all documents and pdf statements he needed to put in the application it took 4 full working days to do I can send his messenger ID to you in pm if you want with prices ect I recommend this guy speaks great English
not necessary. Just want to make sure you don't submit the application then sit around waiting for nothing. Once you pay it should be less than a week until you have your visa.
