Hi,

I'm trying to determine when the 3 months has passed after being granted an extension of my retirement visa to be able to drop the funds deposited in my bank account to below 800,000 baht,

Is it from when the visa was granted, 17th December 2024 or 16th January 2025 when my new visa started?

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question is about determining the correct start date for the 3-month period related to fund requirements after an extension of a retirement visa in Thailand. There is uncertainty among immigration offices, with some stating the period starts from the date the extension is granted, while others say it begins when the current extension actually takes effect. The advice given is to keep the funds above the required amount until 3 months past the effective date to avoid any issues during future extensions.

Does it have to be in a Thai bank - or if one has funds in another country is that ok?

That is a point of contention (at the 80+ immigration offices scattered around thailand)

Some offices say it's 3 months from the date the extension is applied for (the day they grant the extension)

BUT

Some offices say it's 3 months from the date the extension takes effect (which would be the day your current extension expires ๐Ÿ˜• )

I will leave it to you to decide.

Honestly rather than find out that you missed the seasoning when you go to get a new extension next year I'd just leave the funds in until after April 17th or so 3 months from the date the extension takes effect
