Hi, if you have 12 months of international deposits of 65kTHB into your Thai bank account can you apply for your 1st Non O retirement visa within Thailand and then request 1 year extension?

Australian passport so can not get Embassy letter.

Any office more willing to accept this scenario more than others? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry revolves around whether a foreign national can apply for a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand with only 65,000 THB in bank deposits, given the requirement of having 800,000 THB for the visa application and extension. Most comments assert that the individual must have the full amount for the initial visa and suggest exploring options for obtaining the visa from their home country instead. Some discussions also touch upon the possibility of using the 65,000 THB monthly transfer method for the extension if a proper visa is obtained first.

Correct for the visa, but not for the extension. 65k a month will suffice, although there was a difference when I did mine from the usual extension. They wanted to see proof of my retirement income, so I got a notarised statement from my superannuation fund.

Not from a tourism-based visa/entry, but if you obtain the non-O in your home country, you can get the extension in-country using the 65k method provided you have the 12 monthly international transfers with no break.

ok thanks trying to avoid going back to Aus for 2 - 3 weeks as I would need to send passport by post from WA, but still may be the best option.

- i would do more research as there are some group members giving advice based on what their perceptions are rather than actual first hand experience. Probably best go to immigration and ask there. I use Chonburi/Jomtien. I have just switched from

k rule to 65k. IO did not actually ask for proof of my pension income and bank transfers over the previous 12 months which i was informed i would need to do by members of this group. Looking at the legislation, it may be possible to go straight onto 65k per option month but do not quote me.

yes will do they can only say No, which then just means a plan B

No office will accept this AFAIK as it doesn't comply with the written regulations for acquiring an in country Non-O visa. 800k baht in a bank account transferred in from overseas is your only option

No you need 800k for 1st non o and first 1 year extension
