Thailand DTV Visa Approved – Here’s How I Did It 🇹🇭

Just got approved for the Digital Nomad (DTV) visa and wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else. I applied from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, giving myself about two weeks before I’d need to leave — and thankfully it worked out.

What I submitted:

Since they only allow one PDF per category, I combined multiple things smartly. Here’s what I submitted:

• UK Ltd company incorporation doc (I contract through my own business)

• Bank statement (1 month)

• Passport photo

• Client invoices

• A PDF showing my experience and portfolio

• A signed letter stating I don’t intend to work for Thai clients or companies

Financials — mine weren’t perfect:

Most of my money was in Trading 212, which isn’t considered a proper bank. The day before applying, I moved funds to my Barclays account and included:

• A screenshot of the transfer

• A brief explanation

• A summary of my other accounts

I also added a sponsorship letter from my dad, with his bank statement and ID, just as a fallback.

After submission, they asked for:

• Photos of all passport pages

• A company overview (I just created a basic one with my intro, mission, and services)

Putting all the passport photos into one PDF was a bit of a pain, but I managed it using a command-line tool on my Mac to compress and merge them.

Accommodation:

I listed an Airbnb address for the application, not my actual long-term stay (which isn’t TM30-registered). I now have a short stay booked at a TM30-registered place for when my friend visits, and I’ll use that for my 90-day report.

Final Result: Approved

No interview, no major issues — just a few extra docs and a little prep. If your finances are a bit outside the box like mine, don’t panic — just explain things clearly and cover your bases.

Happy to answer questions or share general guidance if it helps someone else!

thankyou but they should realise modern banking Wise has many business customers, it’s property regulated in the uk.

Can’t see what Thai consulate would know, in any event it’s not proof of funds and no proof of income is stated in the DTV rules but of course they may not have been educated in these new ways of conducting business transactions, which have also nothing to do with Thailand, as you are 100% remote, not transacting any business in Thailand?

they didn’t really care about my business transactions, just what I’ve got in my bank and been paid. I’ve read too many rejections on here for Wise and non-bank accounts, so best play it safe. I know it’s not ideal, but always play it as safe as possible.

what further documentation did you need to submit, so others can learn from this. I heard you have to submit every page of your passport not just the biometric pic page?

Regarding the presentation did you provide any financial business bank accounts, do you know ..is a Wise business account acceptable?although I understand they don’t require proof of income, just what your remote business is about clients etc the proof of funds is not less than THB 500k in Thai account or equivalent sum in a foreign bank account, did you submit 6 months of bank statements or just current month showing THB 500k

don’t use Wise. Use a proper bank in your country. I initially had my funds in Trading 212, but it’s not a proper bank account so moved it to my bank account a day prior and provided explanation etc

and it was just current month of my personal bank statements. Read original post though - I also had support from my dad as an optional extra weight to show I also had family support if necessary. Again, not needed, but doesn’t hurt.

refer to original post (sorry) - they did come back and ask for every page of passport. Painful it could only be in one pdf. Also a business mission statement etc. I don’t recall giving business statements, no.

Well done 💯 for most people that have a billion questions about how to get approved the key is to follow instructions and be adaptable when appropriate. This will work for most people applying. Good fortune to all and see you at the Propaganda Bar 🍻

Mine is still in processing since August, sent in everything they needed and more, but it still says pending and they won’t answer my emails *Thai Embassy in Oslo Norway. Hopeless. They asked for Payslips for the last 1,5 years also. Try to avoid Oslo if possible. Our Thai Visa assistant in Thailand said she never experienced this kind of embassy

Processing since August????
Bjørn ********************
@Andi **********
we gave up when we went to Thailand we were waiting to get it declined or approved so we could start a new application for a tourist visa if it did not work. Calling the embassy does not work, they never picked up. We tried going to the embassy, but they did not want to let us in and told us the visa communication has to be done online and wait for an answer. That was a few days before our flight and never heard from them after and we were already in Thailand.
@John ********
. Just wanted to share our experience, as of now we see That the DTV does not fit us anymore so we are applying for a different visa 😊
Andi ***********
@Bjørn *******************
You should have applied nearby to Thailand for the DTV, easier to get within SEA.
Bjørn ********************
@Andi **********
yeah, I just did not think it would be so hard since we already covered everything they said we needed for the visa 😞
John *********
@Andi **********
sorry but you can telephone them and ask them why they haven’t responded either with approval, requesting additional information or rejection? Why have you not bothered all these months, just go around to the Embassy and speak to an official, this doesn’t sound right.
Andi ***********
@Bjørn *******************
It does not take 8 months to process. why did you not contact them ?
Bjørn ********************
Yes, they never rejected or accepted mine, my brothers or my dads application. We sent them everything they asked for
Andi ***********
@John ********
Agreed, no idea why the OP has left it this long and it is likely not pending after 8 months...
