Hi everyone. This group helped me a lot throughout the process. So let me share my experience with DTV.
I applied for a DTV from Tokyo at the beginning of May. I'm a freelancer working in Japan and I'm not Japanese.
I submitted all of my documents, and they requested a few corrections:
* A revised headshot photo
* Detailed bank account information showing my name (Japanese documents were accepted, no translation was needed)
* My residence card, which was in the process of being renewed. Since I didn't have the new card yet, I submitted a screenshot showing that I had applied online and that the renewal was still being processed.
After that, I was called to the embassy for an interview. They gave me a specific date and time, with no flexibility, so fortunately I was available and attended.
The interview lasted only about five minutes. I didn't bring any printed documents, only my laptop. They asked to see the online approval status of my residence card again, and I showed it to them. That was pretty much it.
They asked a few simple questions:
* Why do you want to go to Thailand?
* What is your current work?
* Who are your clients?
* How long are you planning to stay in Thailand?
Three days later, my visa was approved.
After that, I applied for my husband and our 2 kids. My husband didn't have 500,000 THB in his account, so I submitted my bank account information along with a sponsorship letter. (I found the sponsorship letter template through this group. If anyone needs it, let me know and I can share mine.)
Since my husband and kids are Japanese, they were asked to provide a mynumber card which is a government-issued photo ID as an extra document. I uploaded those documents, and all of their visas were approved within a week.
I had more than 2,000,000 THB in savings, so I didn't have any issues regarding financial proof.
Based on my experience, as long as your documents are consistent and you provide exactly what they ask for, the process is quite straightforward and you should be able to get the visa.
Thanks again to everyone in this group for all the help 🥳
