TLDR : Answer Summary
A 76-year-old expat has a flight booked for 97 days in Thailand and is exploring visa options. Suggestions include reducing the stay to 89 days to fit within the scope of various visas. The Single Entry Non-O Visa offers a stay of 89 days without financial requirements but may require health insurance. Alternatively, a Single Entry Tourist Visa allows for a 59-day stamp with a possible 30-day extension for a total of 89 days. If he wants to stay over 90 days, the Non-OA Visa allows for a year-long stay, or the Non-O Visa provides an 89-day stamp with potential for a 1-year extension.

He needs to get a visa to stay more than 89day/90nights in Thailand. if he wants to say more than that, options could

be..

Non-OA allows him to stay up to 365days.

Or Non-O being over 50 single entry gives him 89days stamp that he can apply for a 1-year extension. There is no 30days extension for this.

Or Single entry tourist visa gives him a 59days stamp that he can apply for a 30days tourism extension once.

Or he enters Thailand without a visa (on a visa-exempt scheme), he will get a 29days stamp. He can apply for a 30days tourism extension. Then pray for the slim possibility to travel somewhere and back in early February...

I suggest reducing it down to 89 days. He can get the following visas/ extension of stays:

VISA: Single Entry Non-O Visa Based on being over 50. There is no financial requirements. On entry, he'll be stamped in for 89 days. There may be health insurance requirements on top of the standard entry requirements.

VISA: Single entry tourist visa. There are no financial requirements. On entry, he'll be stamped in for 59 days. He can get a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism, allowing him to stay for 89 days total. There are no health insurance requirements on top of the standard entry requirements of 50K USD healthcare insurance.

SETV has financial requirements at many consulates/embassies. Not that big amount like Non-O etc, though.

Non-O single entry has, too.

Of course, there is, but seems varied in a wide range.

For example, at DC in US, it would be 700USD for one person.

In another country, it's the same as Non-OA.

I don't believe there are any financial requirements for a single entry Non-O visa based on being over 50 though, correct? It's just the Non-OA and Non-OX?

I had to show proof of pension funds to the Thai embassy in UK when I was applying for my Non O retirement visa.
